Sunnyside Primary Academy

Religious Education

RE Curriculum Intent

At Sunnyside we use the agreed syllabus for RE in Northamptonshire. It plays an important part in preparing pupils for life in modern Britain and understanding of different faiths and cultures.

Our learners discover the achievements of religious influencers from around the world and compare these to their own achievements and future aspirations
Endeavour

Through open, informed and respectful discussions with peers and local religious representatives our children learn about the challenges overcome through endeavour.

Responsibility

Our pupils learn about the similarities and differences, shared values and mutual understanding between different religions, which develops their responsibility within their communities.

Acheivement

We nourish children’s natural desire to learn about their world and develop the confidence to question everything around them.  We promote attitudes of respect towards others and provide an understanding of moral code.

Implementation

For the teaching of Religious Education, we follow the Northamptonshire Scheme of Work.  Alongside this we also have planned opportunities to celebrate religious festivals.
